Realistic mathematics is an approach that emphasizes the construction of the context and concrete objects as a starting point for students to acquire mathematical concepts. Concrete objects and objects of the environment can be used as a context for learning mathematics in building mathematical connections through social interaction. Concrete objects manipulated by students within the framework of efforts to support students in the process mathematics concrete to the abstract. Students should be given opportunities to construct and produce a mathematical way and their own language. Necessary activities so that the reflection of social activity can occur integration and strengthening of relations between subjects in the structure of mathematical understanding.

Based on this realistic mathematics emphasizes, these students will be faced with problems in your life or the real situation and the students were able to find strategies to solve problems themselves, linking mathematical concepts and apply the appropriate formula, while the teacher is faced with a situation of learning how to develop an interactive, able to provide the opportunity to students to be active, develop curriculum and syllabus and curriculum to actively associate with the real world, both physical and social, as well as able to develop learning scenarios. In accordance with these conditions, the position of teachers in this PMRI method as facilitators.
Now the question is "How the application of this PMRI can be applied to learning fractions in school?." Teacher as a facilitator who will guide students to develop their own mathematical models to his problems, then formulate your own problem into mathematics, then a new application. Discussing fractions and shape, could use illustrations or pictures as a means for students to explore or discover concepts and forms of fractions. Example: with a picture of a round cake cut into ½ and ¼ to show their shape.
