A.
Introduction
Teach
mathematics is not easy, because the students majoring in math education still
find it difficult. This conditions, as if thinking there isn’t best way to
teach mathematics. However, the essence of learning mathematics will not run
balanced without any cooperation between education and the educated.
There
are four groups who think differently about how learning should be implemented
(Kush and BAAL, 1986 in Marsigit, 2004):
1. (content
focused-conceptual understanding) is learning should be emphasized in understanding
the material;
2. (content
focus-performance) is learning need to prioritize the learning outcomes;
3. (learner
focus-construction) is learning should be focused on the subject of student, so
they can develop and build knowledge;
4. That
learning should start from the planning of classroom management that is
conducive to learning.
However,
it can be influenced by several factors that should support the learning of
mathematics is good.
B.
The
Factors Affecting Of Teaching And Learning Of Mathematic
The
factors affecting of teaching and learning of mathematic considered difficult
to understand, including; educational facilities, instructional media,
psychological aspects, the context of teaching and learning (culture),
curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, student’s work sheet, assessment, teaching
learning resources, paradigm derived from the philosophy and theories, and
learning technology. Everything that needs an understanding of the meaning of
theory, how to apply, the existing system, environmental conditional and
learning, facilities. The difficulty was increased if the teacher of teachers
of mathematics dealing with differences in the ability of their students, so teachers teach math
problems effectively and efficiently when the teacher was pursuing minimum
criteria of value that must be completed. In addition, teacher must be able to
motivate students to learn and develop technologies to study for a math lesson
to achieve understanding and a maximum value. Teacher also seemed no other
alternative except to teach mathematics rely on traditional methods such as
methods of exploration.
And
we all know a lot of methods that can be used or create new innovations, such
as: methods of demonstration, discussion methods, methods of independent study,
programmed teaching methods, methods of stimulation, method of discordant
opinions, the case study method, project method, the method of playing a role,
the method seminars, symposiums method, the method of inductive and deductive
methods. All these methods can be used if the master teacher role, so know the
right method to teach mathematics in their students and a teacher who has his
own identity.
C.
Conclusion
Difficulties in teaching
and learning mathematics can be overcome with good
cooperation between teachers and students. All the factors
that influence will not be an advanced hard again if teachers and students carry
out its role properly. Teachers strive to provide the
desired student learning and to understand, but if the
students themselves can’t be trying to establish itself well to
learn what efforts the teachers there will be
no result.
