PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERBANTUAN KALKULATOR BY Dr. MARSIGIT

In developed countries calculator to get an important role in the process of learning mathematics. This is indicated by the use of calculators in mathematics learning ranging from primary education to higher education. Not only limited to that, research on the graphing calculator is indicated by the number of journals, books, conference reports and dissertations that discuss the graphing calculator. The importance of a calculator is to bridge the arithmetic and algebra.
Types of calculators had great development. Judging from their use calculator consists of two types. This type consists of two kinds, namely plain calculator and a scientific calculator. Regular calculator is widely used in everyday life. According to this calculator, first signs of repressed more done. For example in the calculation of 2 + 4 x 8, according to the ordinary calculator 6 x 8 = 48.Yet according to the rules of mathematics, multiplication is completed first, so it should be 2 + (4 x 8) = 2 + 32 = 34. Meanwhile, scientific calculators are widely used by high school students, teachers, or students to assist counting function. Scientific calculator has a way of working that follow the rules work in mathematics. For example in the calculation of 2 + 4 x 8, according to a scientific calculator, multiplication is done first, so 2 + 4 x 8 = 2 + 32 = 34.
One example of a scientific calculator is a graphing calculator. Graphing calculator has its own advantages than regular calculator. The advantage lies in the ability of the calculator to solve math problems quickly and display them in graphical form. Another advantage of the graphing calculator to create a program that can solve math problems.
Benefits that can be explored from the use of calculators are:
  1. help in understanding math concepts,
  2. cause the student calculators work on the problems become easier
  3. the existence of calculators in the classroom to make lessons more interesting
  4. The calculator as a tool just count
  5. use the calculator to learn much more developed
  6. calculator to match the craftsmanship
  7. help to strengthen computational skills,
  8. develop a high-level thinking skills,
  9. increasing problem solving skills, and
  10. create a more realistic problem-solving.

Civilize math in school have an understanding aspects of the nature of mathematics, the essence of school mathematics, mathematics education essence, the essence of the value of mathematics, the essence of studying mathematics, the nature of mathematics teaching and learning process, the nature of the acculturation of school mathematics. In addition, should think about mathematics education, mathematics learning, mathematics thinking, and so on.
Mathematical Thinking covers three aspects: first, the attitude of mathematics, second, methods of mathematical thinking, and the third mathematical content. So think of mathematics as well stretch on mathematical thinking in its dimensions, meaning there is to think of mathematics in schools / materials, or college / formal. In general, mathematics attitude shown by the indicators of sincere pleasure and to learn mathematics, attitudes that support for the study of mathematics, knowledge is sufficient to study mathematics, curiosity, ability to ask, the ability to acquire mathematical skills and experience.
Mathematical acculturation is an implication of awareness of the importance of reflection activities through the study of mathematics and mathematics education mathematics in various dimensions. Thus the mathematical acculturation implies how far we are able to perform activities in a range of intentions, attitudes, knowledge, skills and experience of mathematics, mathematics education and mathematics learning. Acculturation of mathematics can be achieved on the basis of an understanding of mathematical knowledge that is objective and subjective mathematics actors in its efforts to obtain the justification of the truth of mathematics through the creation, formulation, representation, publication and interaction. Explicitly based on mathematical acculturation: (1) knowledge of mathematics in various dimensions, which include the nature, justification and occurrence, (2) mathematical objects in various dimensions which include the nature and origin, (3) the use of formal mathematics, including its effectiveness in science, technology and other sciences, and (4) practices on various dimensions of mathematics more generally, including the activities of the mathematician or mathematical activity of elementary school students.
Familiarization and learning of mathematics through communication such as ways to instill the essence of the role of learning mathematics as anything.

Managing the learning is not easy, sometimes students have difficulty in learning. In fact it is not easy for educators to change the style of teaching. Educators are always required to adjust teaching methods to suit changing times.
There are 4 groups of the view that learning should be;
  1. The group that believes that learning should emphasize on understanding the material (content focused - conceptual understanding)
  2. Groups who argue that learning needs to give priority to learning outcomes (content focus - performance)
  3. The group that believes that learning should be learner centered on the subject, so that they can develop and build knowledge (learner focus - construction)
  4. The group that believes that learning should start from the planning of classroom management that is conducive to learning (classroom focus-effective classroom)

Competency-based education has become an alternative to conducting an emphasis on learning capabilities. The curriculum was developed based on the elaboration of a basic skills competency standards. Standard of competence is an ability that can be performed or displayed in the learning, while the basic skills are minimal ability in subjects that should be owned by students. Basic skills may include the ability of affective, cognitive and psychmotor.
Competency-based curriculum is the development of contextual teaching and learning experience of learning (CT & L), meaningful teaching, with attention to life skills (life skills) in the form of generic skills (personal skills, social skills, academic skills and proficiency skills). All abilities / competencies assessed by the principles developed assessment / authentic assessment not only on memory and comprehension level but up to the application. So that teachers can bring innovation to stimulate student learning, there are some concepts that need to be understood about the nature of science includes understanding each field, the nature of the subject students, and changes in attitude and implementation associated with the change of paradigm.
1. Development of Cognitive Aspects
·        Students will learn if they have the motivation
·        Students learn in his own way
·        Students learn both independently and in collaboration with his friend
·        Students need a context and the different situations in the learning

2. Affective Aspects Hierarchy
Aspect of attitude is an individual's readiness to react so it is a relatively fixed disposition that has been owned by the experience that took place on a regular basis and direction. This attitude is also a component system consisting of cognitive, feelings and tendencies to act. Attitudes are positive or negative feelings level devoted to the objects of psychology. With such an attitude means that the tendency towards feelings of attraction psychology ie, positive attitudes and negative attitudes.
3. Psychmotor developmental aspects
This activity students are given the opportunity to demonstrate abilities and skills do physical activities such as drawing a triangle, square painting, painting circles, etc.. To determine the skill level of students.

A CRITICAL LOOK AT International Level of MATHEMATICS EDUCATION BY Dr. MARSIGIT

Bukti empiris mengenai pembelajaran matematika internasional yaitu; menjelaskan perbandingan matematika internasional dari ilmu pendidikan, besar jumlah data metodologi, dan perbandingan kinerja siswa, persiapan guru, buku pelajaran, gaya mengajar. Efek hal tersebut, banyak kritikan yang bermunculan diantaranya; kinerja relative menurun drastic, siswa yang relative baik pada satu langkah masalah, tetapi tidak baik pada  multi-langkah masalah, siswa relative baik pada analisis data, siswa buruk pada masalah yang membutuhkan cara berfikir konseptual.
Implikasi untuk metode dan model belajar mengajar seharusnnya dengan belajar transformative. Bagaimana membangun siswa supaya aktif dengan memulainnya dari apa yang mereka pikir, mereka tahu, dan apa yang sebenarnnya terjadi. Melakukan proses tersebut maka, pelajar kemudian mulai mengartikulasikan asumsi tentang model pembelajaran yang cocok dan memulai berfikir sesuai dengan informasi baru, pelajar kemudian mulai menyelidiki alternative yang tepat dari berbagai sudut pandang, kemudian pelajar terlibat diskusi dengan orang lain untuk mencari fakta dan ide-ide, kemudian pelajar merevisi atau mngasumsikan dengan situasi yang cocok, setelah itu mulai menempatkan asumsi ke dalam praktek.
Rekomendasi pengembangan pengajaran matematika;
1.     Menegakkan akuntabilitas individu untuk kelompok proyek.
2.     Memerlukan partisipasi kelas.  
3.     Menemukan bimbingan yang tepat untuk struktur dan visibilitas semua kelompok.
4.     Mendorong diskusi antar kelompok.
5.     Kenali kinerja individualdengan baik.
6.     Berikan nilai kerja individu di samping kerja kelompok.
